We left Rockford at 4am today to cover the new Bronze Fonz Statue in Milwaukee. The event kicked off with cast members from Happy Days at Miss Katie's Diner at 6AM. the CBS Early Show was there to go live across the country. We quickly realized that this was a bigger deal than they had planned for. To have the opportunity to meet your childhood idol is pretty amazing. Although Henry Winkler as a person seems very far away from the Fonz, they wore the same shoes for several years. The first person we got to talk to was Anson Williams (Potsie Webber)
Email us stories about when you had a chance to meet your idol
While Anson was pretty nice, he just seemed like a Potsie. I can't really put my finger on it, but he just didn't seem like a guy I would hang out with on a regular basis.
We wanted to talk to Don Most, but he did a couple of interviews, but didn't seem really into the whole thing. When we asked to talk to him, we were told that he had to go do the CBS Early Show in a few minutes, after he sat there for about 15 minutes doing nothing we realized we missed our chance. That is Ralph Malph in the Grey shirt doing an interview.
We got a chance to grab Erin Moran (Joanie Loves Chachi) She seemed like a very nice person and was happy to talk to us. I think she was happy we didin't bring up Celebrity Fit Club!
Happy Days producer Garry Marshall talks with the CBS Early show along with Henry Winkler.
As you can see from this picture it was kind a madhouse around Miss Katies. The older man in the hat is Tom Bosley (Mr.C)
It was great to tlak to Marion Ross. She was the exact woman that you saw as the mom on Happy Days. We kind of wished she would have adopted us. She said that we were "good boys"!
What can I say. The two of us with The Fonz Henry Winkler. IT was one of those moments that both of us will remember.
